We began our 1st expedition out of Juneau Monday morning, July 13 and headed up the Taku, which is just South of Juneau. There are several glaciers running into the Taku and the first one we saw was the biggest. It was the Taku Glacier which is the 4th largest in southeast Alaska. It is 5 miles wide and very impressive!

We stopped by the Taku Lodge and due to our novelty and our being the first hovercraft to visit, they fed us a superb salmon lunch. They offered us some local knowledge about the nearby glaciers and the streams leading up to them. We then ran up some small rapid rivers to the local glaciers. Afterwards, the folks at the lodge fed us dinner with the crew. They're a 1st class operation and I'd recommend them to anyone visiting the Juneau area.
